Key Stage 3 P.E Assessment Resources

As physical educators we all know the emphasis that is put on accurate and reliable assessment in our subject. However assessing attainment at Key Stage 3 is notoriously difficult due to ambiguous end of level Attainment Targets. Because of this, assessment remains one of the weakest areas of effective teaching in a large number of schools. To help both pupils' and teachers', a new range of level descriptions have been developed. They enable teachers to accurately and reliably make judgements regarding pupils performance and understanding. The cards also aid pupils' in recognising their current level of performance and most importantly identifying targets for improvement. Developed as part of a two year research project, the cards have been widely used with excellent results as well as being highly commended during a recent OFSTED inspection.
